Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training—June 24, 2026: H.E. Kim Sovandy, Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Cambodia National Council for Children (CNCC), attended the celebration of the 77th anniversary of International Children's Day on June 1 under the theme "Peace is the Foundation of Respect and Protection of Children's Rights" and the 25th anniversary of the World Day Against Child Labor on June 12 under the theme "Commitment to the Elimination of Worst Forms of Child Labor in All Production Chains to Build Resilience and Decent Work."
The purpose of the event is (1) promoting social movements against child labor and inspiring participation in preventing and curbing the use of child labor by raising public awareness of the problem of child labor; (2) encouraging cooperation from all relevant parties in participating in preventing and curbing the use of child labor and eliminating the worst forms of child labor; and (3) showcasing the progress and achievements of the Royal Government in reducing child labor and eliminating the worst forms of child labor.
The celebration of this day is a reminder of the respect for and implementation of the fundamental rights of children, as well as a reflection of the strong commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia to prevent, curb, and respond to child labor, violence against children, and online risks to ensure the safety, well-being, and full development of children.
The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Suos Rathavy, Secretary of State and Vice-Chair of the National Committee against Child Labor, and was attended by leaders, vice-chairmen, members of the National Committee against Child Labor and the 25 provincial committees against child labor, representatives of relevant ministries and institutions, representatives of the provincial, district, and commune administrations, heads of the provincial departments of labor and vocational training, representatives of the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Cambodia Employers' and Trade Associations' Federation, the Cambodia Federation of Construction and Forestry Workers' Unions, national and international organizations, teachers, and children, totaling approximately 300 people.
