DoSVY, Preah Sihanouk Province - December 19-20, 2024, the General Secretariat of the Cambodia National Council for Children (CNCC), in collaboration with relevant development partner organizations, organized the workshop to reflect on the progress of the work in 2024 of the General Secretariat CNCC and to strengthen the capacity of the inter-ministerial-institutional technical working group and relevant development partner organizations.
The purpose of the workshop was to (1) raise awareness on online and offline child protection in line with the situation of the growth of digital technology development and encourage the participation of technology companies in the field of online child protection in response to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 and (2) demonstrate the progress and results of work achieved in 2024 and the establishment of the 2025 goals of the General Secretariat of the CNCC with relevant ministries, institutions, and development partner organizations.
The workshop presented the results of the work of the General Secretariat of the CNCC, which achieved coordination with global partners on ending violence against children and legal documents and strategic planning of the General Secretariat of the CNCC with relevant ministries, institutions, and development partner organizations.
At the same time, the inter-ministerial-institutional technical working group and relevant development partner organizations presented the results of work related to online child protection, intervention to help child victims, arresting criminals, data management of online child abuse, distribution of child sexual abuse materials, online technology crimes, technological techniques to help child victims, case management, and cooperation with partners in implementing child protection.
The workshop also highlighted the challenges of implementing child protection work, such as limited technical knowledge and technology, difficulty communicating with international agencies regarding interventions related to human trafficking, and limited international intervention in helping children from online abuse.
The workshop was chaired by H.E. Oum Sophannara, Deputy Secretary General, High Representative, and H.E. Kim Sovandy, Secretary General of the General Secretariat CNCC, with the participation of His Excellency, Lok Chumteav, Ladies and Gentlemen, and representatives from ministries, institutions, and development partners, a total of 40 people.
